New and fresh out of the factory! The Wham Bam Double Wham Flexible build plate for resin 3D printers is an absolute godsend for those with a resin 3D printer! With the wham bam flexible build system its effortless! Read on to find out why.
What Is A Flexible Build System For Resin 3D printers
Wham Bam are known for their best in class flex plates for FDM printers. They sent an email out asking for beta testers for their DWR kit for those that own some specific resin printers. With me owning a Longer Orange 10 which was listed as one of the requirements, I jumped at the chance, even though I had no idea what a DWR was! All I knew was that it was to do with resin printing.
Being successful in my beta application, it later transpires, that DWR means Double Wham Resin. This is basically a metal flex plate that attaches to your resin printers build platform, so in other words a flexible build plate for resin 3D printers. After printing, just take the magnetic flex plate off and pop off your print. As simple as that! Being a Double, this means you get 2 flexible plates! I stated I also had an Orange 30 and they asked me for the dimensions of the build plate, which happens to match the Phrozen Sonic Mini, so I was sent an additional set for that.
Wham Bam Flexible Build System Packaging
The Double Wham Flexible build plate for resin 3D printers kit came packaged in your plastic wrapper, but inside, there was some strong rigid cardboard of which contained a further 2 cardboard envelopes. These contained the flex plates as well as the magnetic adhesives for the Longer Orange 10 and the Longer Orange 30. In addition to this were the instructions on how to apply and use the kit, some 400 grit sandpaper and a couple of stickers.
Flexible Resin Build Plates
The quality Flexible resin build plates for the Double Wham Flexible build plate for resin kit are excellent! They are made from a high grade stainless alloy spring steel, and in addition have a higher chromium content to prevent rust even if scratched. They are then finished with a custom etched texture for amazing grip. It will resist resin, mean green, and alcohol for prolonged periods.
Magnetic sheet
The Magnetic Bed is an extra thick custom made magnet. It is created to produce amazing strength to combat suction forces even for large layer prints. It is backed with a special new 3M adhesive. As a result, both the 3M and the magnet are also impervious to resin, mean green, and alcohol for prolonged periods.
In addition, they have supplied some sand paper of which you can use to sand the flex build plate to refresh its properties.
Installation of the Double Wham Flexible build plate for resin kit
Installation of the Double Wham Flexible build plate for resin kit is easy! Take off your existing build platform, give it a good clean with IPA, and then clean it again once more. Pull of part of the backing of the magnet and then line it up to the edge of your build plate. Once aligned, pull of the rest of the backing while pressing firmly down on the magnet for it to stick. It is advised to leave the magnet for 24 hours so it has enough time to adhere. You wouldn’t want this to fall off mid-print!
Once applied, the flex build plate just sticks on the magnet!
Calibration Of The Resin Flexible Build Plate
The Wham Bam Double Wham resin kit uses up 2.5mm of your build height, but this is a small price to pay for the functionality of this. For my resin printers, I had no need to print any additional hardware to utilise the 2.5mm extra. All I had to do was level the build platform as normal. There is enough allowance within the screw slots to account for this extra gap.
Other printers may be different, but Wham Bam should have something in place of which you can print which will help account for this extra space if using this kit. I would suggest finding this out before going ahead!
Flexible Resin Build Plate Performance
So, how does the Wham Bam Double Wham Flexible build plate for resin kit perform? Extraordinary well actually! It makes removing prints so much easier and less fiddlier! It also helps in cleaning too as you only really have to clean the flex plate rather than the whole build plate structure. In addition to its small size too, its easier to handle whilst cleaning.
For the Orange 10, I used Ameralabs AMD3 black resin to print some OpenRC F1 parts. I had no suction issues and the print was firmly on the plate. After getting the flex build plate off the magnet (its strong!) using the small tab and giving it some flex, the parts just slid off!
It was the same story for the Orange 30 too! For this print, I used eSun Standard Red resin. Again, the print adhered well and no suction issues. After printing, a small flex of the build plate and the print just popped off…literally!
Any issues?
I experienced no issues at all really! Installation was a breeze, and I had an ever so slight gap left and right side of the Orange 30 magnet, of which wouldn’t affect its use.
I guess one thing I’d like to change is perhaps a bigger tab on the flex plate. If you have big hands/chunky fingers, you may find it a little difficult to get a grip on the tab, especially when wearing gloves. There is enough room to make the tab bigger. I have passed this information on to the Wham Bam team.

Thanks for the review and the discount code!!!, Just ordered one.
You are welcome! 🙂
You’ll be pleased you got one!
Thanks for the testing. I wonder how it will resist to suction and weight with large prints…. Did you try with big ones?
I’ve not tried with big prints yet, however, I am in the process of printing multiple parts on the build plate which aren’t hollowed, so there should be some weight to the prints.
I’m seeing a LOT of people on the Facebook groups not having adequate adhesion and the print either falling off or shifting. Seems like the more these are in use, the more it’s happening
Yep. Never had any issues with my Photon factory print bed, installed the Wham Bam junk and 10 prints and 10 failures. All sticks to the FEP, Nothing to the print bed. Not impressed and I would not recommend spending any money on it. (and yes, I have leveled the print bed at least 10 times during this nightmare.)
Perhaps it’s not a levelling issue…Have you tried decreasing your lift speed? Increased exposure time? Sanded the surface of the build plate? Many other factors could affect what you are experiencing. For me, I’ve still not experienced any major issues…
Hello mate – what lift speed are you running?
Hey, I am using a 50mm/min lifting speed
Hey John,
I’ve not come across any issues with mine. Perhaps those suffering the issues haven’t cleaned their plates properly or the lift speed is set too fast? I don’t know, but personally, no issues with mine.
