Materials of Tesla Filament
Tesla filament consists of different polymers. Obviously, the polymers are chains of repeated molecules parts. Among the polymers, the most common are PLA (polylactic acid) and ABS. ABS is a copolymer of styrene, butylene, and acrylonitrile.
Usually, 3D Printing may use any polymer if it has the following properties.
When it cools, it is highly durable. Overall, this property can be reduced or enhanced depending on the project.
When heated, it can be stretched out. Once set, it should not leak.
When heated, it can easily be moulded again. It is important for 3D printing. Normally, the Tesla filament quality is shown by these properties. In addition, you may need some extra abilities for a unique product. Perhaps, the examples may include outright strength, ASA (weather resistance), or Nylon (flexibility). The polymer quality can be low through the impurities present in them.
Additives of Tesla Filament
In addition to materials, additives are an important part of filament. Usually, the filament colour shows that they consist of anything more than just plastic. And, it is great for finding a diversity of improvements that can be involved in a filament. One of the most common additives is dye. Although all the dyes differ in quality. Factors like toxicity, UV resistance, soluble, and colour can play a vital role. It is the case especially for UV active dyes which remains to glow under UV light. Also, the fluorescent dyes glow in the dark.
Additives enhance the physical properties of the product. An example of this is hardness, It varies when you are considering a single kind of the polymer. It can be through the addition of a small amount of important additive. This is not the only thing which we can present. Some common additives include auto oxidizing agents and flame retardants. The less amount of additives does not affect the polymer’s stability. Still, it changes the present appearance of the products, 3D printed. The product that cannot be flammable easily.
Packaging and Processing of Tesla Filament
The processing of polymers into filaments is not costly. But it needs something for gaining their uniform dimensions. After extrusion, the filaments are cut. Then they are packaged and sold like single threads. It is important to wind every single filament onto a cardboard spool or plastic spool.
