3DPARTLAB – BigRep Plans to Grow Bigger in Boston!

Who Are They?

BigRep touts itself as “the leader in industrial large scale additive manufacturing” and is taking a big step forward in growth. As a result, they’re doing it in Boston, Massachusetts. At the beginning of 2014, BigRep made a name for themselves developing large-scale 3D Printers for the industrial sector. In addition to this, they now offer 3D printing services to new and existing North American customers. They are based in Germany and are best known for the big rep ONE. The ONE boasts a print volume of just over one meter in length, width, and height!

What Is BigRep Offering?

BigRep 3DPARTLAB is their new facility opening in Boston. It is intended to provide a service for manufacturers who can’t justify spending funds to add 3D printing to their own business. Also, 3DPARTLAB will be available to supplement companies’ demands that exceed their production capabilities. Previously, BigRep primarily catered to the Automotive manufacturing sector. It seems like this new service will allow their name to expand into prototyping, tooling, and even end-use parts. Therefore, that’s big news for a company so young!

North America is one of the biggest, if not the fastest, growing markets for the 3D Printing industry. As a result, BigRep placed itself strategically to ride the wave of success that has been building over the last decade. In contrast, they saw a significant leadership change less than a year ago. CEO, Stephan Beyer stepped down from his duties in June of 2019; however, his replacement has not officially been announced yet. Instead, Chief Business Officer, Frank Marangell has been assuming those duties in the interim. Frank has been named President of their American headquarters.
